I LOVE YOU
KISS THE BRIDE
IT'S A GIRL
IT'S A BOY
YOU ARE HIRED
TRUST YOUR GUT
YOU'VE GOT THIS
LOVE YOU, GAGA
and yes...GO PACK GO!
Phrases. Sketched out in three little words. Little phrases; ginormous impact. Phrases we oftentimes take for granted. Phrases that illuminate the heart and remind us that we're strong, loved, and capable. Phrases that empower, embolden, and encourage. So much can be said in three little words.
Just words, right? Let's go dark for a bit. Think about those "other" three little words:
I DON'T CARE
LEAVE ME ALONE
GO F.... YOURSELF
I HATE YOU
JUST DROP DEAD
GO TO HELL
I struggle with the darker side of three little words. I really do. Maybe you can help me understand a bit more in the comments.
I'd rather focus on the power of positive thoughts, words, and deeds. Just recently, every phrase that I'd heard in the past (positive or negative) had to stand in line. I've waited for almost a year. A phrase with Herculean strength to open a door that had been slammed and jammed shut since January. A phrase that made me bawl upon impact: YOU'RE CANCER FREE...
Let that sink in a bit. I still shake a bit typing the words. It will be the summit to which all other ''three little word" phrases will aspire. I vividly recall the day when three other little words weren't so little at all: CAME BACK POSITIVE. Talk about the power of three little words. Sadly, this creates immeasurable melancholy for me. I have met, and subsequently found solace in, dozens of others who have indeed heard the latter set of three little words...and they have yet to hear the former. The wait continues for them, and my heart breaks. I continue to hold them all closely and send daily meditations/asks out into the universe with hopes they can cry like a baby when (not if) they hear those happy three little words.
Things bring me to my dot connecting compulsion. It's BACK TO SCHOOL time. Three little words that wreaked terror among the 14-year-olds I once served and that excited me beyond measure. Three little words that give us all - parents, grands, educators, community - a beautiful opportunity to carve out three little word phrases of our own for those cherubs frolicking through the school doors (Okay, a bit much? I know).😉
What three little words will we use? How will our three little words impact our students, our own kids, our colleagues, our parents and primary caregivers? The point of this post was to not only share some good news but to also serve as a reminder that words have power...
...and sometimes, all it takes is three of them.
BLESS YOU ALL!
